Hey Guys im glad to be re-opening my blog and hope to post something every few days
thanks
After a few days of using Windows 7 Beta 64-bit i have to say Microsoft have done a pretty good job compared to windows XP x64 and vista x64 edition, 7 x64 is not only faster but its also much much more stable than previous 64-bit versions of windows, for instance the only incompatibility I’ve come across is my webcam but that doesn’t work with any 64-bit OS.
I am going to stick with this version because it can actually use all my 6gb of ram so i can hook up dual monitors and run a VM with Ubuntu in it constantly without having to stop the VM when i need to play a game or need extra resources.
After lots of disappointments (“Cough”… Vista) Microsoft have finally made an OS that i actually want to use
Here are some screenies!

My Laptop is a Netbook in a Macbook size shell, so I decided to go for Linux as my OS for it as its fast, reliable and stable, most of the time. Now my laptop is a Via based Laptop, with a Via C7-m 1.6Ghz CPU, Via Chrome9 AGP 64Mb Video Card and an Atheros AR5007eg Wireless card. Most People with lots of Linux Knowledge may know that this laptop has two of the most dreaded components in the Linux community; the AR5007eg is one of the hardest wireless cards to get working in linux unless you have the 2.6.27 kernel, ok so why don’t I just get a linux that has that kernel? well for one most if not all Linux Distributions with the 2.6.26 kernel have a problem with the other dreaded component, the Chrome9 Video Card.
Up until a few days ago I had only gotten .RPM based distributions to work; Mandriva and openSUSE, but I really don’t like the RPM system because it can be slow (openSUSE) or have a very bad interface (Mandriva). Then I stumbled upon Zenwalk Linux, a Slackware based Distribution. Zenwalk Linux 5.2 is a Slackware based Linux using XFCE as the window manager and has a variety of in-house developed tools, and it has no problems with my laptop
The Package Manager in Zenwalk, NetPkg is very simple and easy to use and you can change your repository with a click of a button.
Instead of the usual Linux Media Player (Totem) you get the very nice and cleat Gnome Mplayer which shows Track info and Album art, and when you plug in an ipod or media player it automatically starts playing.
Zenwalk ships with many useful applications installed like Iceweasel (rebranded Firefox) and a in-house file manager called Zen.
oh and it comes with Flash Player 10 Pre-installed, now that’s a real incentive to get it
All in all its an Awesome Distribution for low powered pc’s or even high powered ones if you like it that much.
A few days ago Windows 7 Build 7000 was leaked onto various torrent sites, the nfo that comes with the torrents claims that this build is infact going to be the beta that Microsoft will release in the second week of January.
I for one will not be upgrading as many others will not be, as this build is only 4 build numbers more than the current build 6956.
As a Technology enthusiast i pride myself in having the knowhow about many things, Tv tuners are one of the rare things i don’t know alot about.
Recently i purchased a “Pinnacle PCTV nano stick” for a nice price of $80 AUD and, it came in a fairly small box. The Specs include; DVB-T, BDA compatible driver and full 1080i HDTV Playback. Now here in Australia we have full 1080i HDTV encoded at a nice 8mbps, but i’ve heard that in the US there isn’t a very compareable standard.
The Tuner comes with Pinnacle TV Center Pro, a digital magnetic antenna and some drivers. The Software, Tv Center Pro is quite good for a dvb program, in my opinion though it still dosn’t beat my preference, Blaze DTV Player.
All in all this is the best TV tuner I’ve ever had and i recommend it to anyone looking to watch or record HDTV in a nice H.264 Format.
ok, so i just installed the new pre-alpha build of windows 7 and i must say that there is a world of difference, the superbar is revised and looks better than ever. also windows live services work way better especially windows live mail which I had to do no configuration at all to get my gmail working with it.

So i just got my “Hackintosh” up and running with full 3D acceleration yesterday so i went and downloaded the VMware Fusion 2.0 Trial.
I expected it to be slow, glitchy and to have lots of bugs…. I was Wrong!
The Team over at Vmware has done a heap of work on getting this stable and boy it hasnt crashed once on me, it installed windows xp pro in about 15 minutes!
So it runs very well almost as fast as my old xp install on my 80gb partition.
At this point i would have given it about an 8/10 but then i attempted to play SPORE…
I couldn’t believe what i was seeing, SPORE was running in an 800×600 windows with all settings on medium with no slowdowns or glitches!! (it actually had less glitches than the actual mac version!)
So My Final Score for Fusion 2.0 is 10/10! and i will be buying it very soon
until next time… Cya
